Twenty-one years ago today, I arrived at the Allison Center for Peace on the Mendocino coast. Seeking a new home on the coast anywhere from Portland, Oregon to San Diego, I discovered a peaceful acreage for the Allison Center in the first property I considered.
Before viewing the property in 2004, my realtor suggested I drive the dirt road from the entrance to the other end of the property, all the way to the border fence, and take in the view. As I surveyed the fields running to the sea, beyond the fence to a foggy coastline, I wondered if there was a distant ocean view.
Since arriving, it has always felt as though Allison found this slice of heaven and brought me here. The raw acreage had no structures or utilities, not even a well, when I first arrived on June 5, 2004. Within a week, I extended an offer to purchase and closed escrow in August.
Taking it from there with zero experience in developing raw land, I found my way via the guidance of contractors and friends offering help to get me in before the fall rains. By the end of October 2004 I made my move to the Allison Center for Peace, now with all utilities underground and a sheltering home just as the first rains of the season arrived.
Sunshine, wind, rainbows and peace encourage the creation of a sustainable presence in balance with nature at the Allison Center for Peace.

I love you, Laurel.
Beautiful! Maybe one day I can make it out that way.
